St. Augustine Field

On Friday, September 5, St. Augustine field was officially dedicated.  Supporters of the project, inlcuding friends, alumni, NFL Grassroots program, LISC and the Philadelphia Eagles were on hand for the ceremony.

Below is the grant description from LISC's website:

Monsignor Bonner High School has received a grant in the amount of $200,000 from the NFL Grassroots Program to resurface the high school's Field of Dreams with synthetic turf.

Monsignor Bonner High School is located in a low to moderate income neighborhood in Upper Darby Township. The school has spent over fifty years providing children with academic and physical education activities. Currently, the school has 900 students enrolled.

The Field of Dreams will be used by community organizations, the high school's athletic teams, and various Township-sponsored sporting organizations. Once the work is completed, the school will be able to increase the number of athletic programs offered to its students as well as increase the times for community usage. These programs will serve approximately 3,000 youth football players.

The field has received additional funding from the State of Pennsylvania. The project has also received considerable support from local businesses, the Upper Darby Police Department and the Philadelphia Eagles.
